Plant Care Guide: Begonia Polka Dot

Begonia Polka Dot //  Begonia Maculata

Shaped like angel wings and with cute little polka dots to match, the Begonia Polka Dot's leaves are simply one of a kind. Add a dramatic red tint to the underside of her leaves and pretty pink florals in the warmer months and voila! You have yourself one of the prettiest plant pals around.

Keep this beauty cute and compact by ensuring she has plenty of access to bright indirect light, or she may get a little leggy reaching for those rays. Plus, those indirect rays will help her blooms stay bright and vibrant.

But be sure not to overwater her as she can be a bit of a delicate darling.

Love notes

Keep your plant pal nourished and supported with a good quality plant food like We The Wild Grow Concentrate and We The Wild Support Pellets. These powerful plant essentials will keep your plants happy, strong and resilient, and will reward you with new growth a'plenty!

These beauties thrive in humid conditions, but due to their unique leaves, do not like misting. They can adapt to drier conditions but if you're wanting to keep up those humidity levels, consider grouping your plant pals together, or a small watered pebble tray under your plant.

Follow the recommended advise on watering above - if unsure, a Moisture Meter could be your secret weapon! This handy tool will show you exactly how dry your soil is to avoid any over or under watering fails.

To ensure your new bestie gets enough drainage, we recommend keeping them in a nursery pot and displaying in a cover pot. If you do want to pot up your plant, make sure your decorative pot has a drainage hole and you've removed the plug.

The Begonia Polka Dot doesn't like to sit in water, so be sure that you've allowed all excess water to drain away before setting this beauty back in their space. They prefer to be watered heavily but allowed to almost completely dry out before watering again.
